Joseph Kadlec, 86, pioneer Oconto County resident, died at his home at Oconto Falls, route 1, Tuesday afternoon. Kadlec came here 62 years ago, long before the town of Spruce was settled.

He helped break new trails, and carried flour on his back from Oconto to his home. He was the originator of the Annual Bohemian day celebration which has been held at the former Kadlec park for over 40 years. He and his wife always took an active part in this event, and helped to make it a great success. Through this event his old friends were able to visit each other at least once a year.

He is survived by four sons, Anton of Oconto Falls, Elheart and Fred of Newald, and Adolph of Lena, and two daughters, Mrs. John Wall and Mrs. Albert Evrard, both of Green Bay.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows of Oconto, and the C.S.P.S. Bohemian lodge of Oconto.

The body was taken to the Steffen funeral home and well be taken to the Anton Kadlec residence Thursday afternoon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at the Anton Kadlec residence. The CSPC lodge and the Odd Fellows will be in charge of the services. Burial will be at Kadlec cemetery.
