Little River
Father of Eleven
Passes

Gone to a higher life, on the 4th, Mr. James Jackson, of Little River, aged 65 years. His disease was beyond the power of the physicians to control; they gave it no particular name, but his family considered it a slow decline. He had been in feeble health for over a year past, but was not confined to the house until last January, since which time until his death was confined to his bed. He suffered considerable pain during his sickness, and about a week before he died he complained of a pain near his heart. A mustard poultice was applied, which removed the pain; but his appetite failed him until he could not partake of any nourishment whatever, and for sometime before he died he was kept alive only by stimulants.

He has left a wife and eleven children, the youngest about ten years of age, and numerous friends and relatives to mourn his departure. He had resided in this locality for the past twenty-eight years, and was therefore well known throughout the country. Last Sunday the funeral obsequies were attended by a large concourse of people. Over forty carriages left the house for the Presbyterian Church, in Oconto, where the service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. H. Kerr. More then ninety carriages accompanied the remains of the deceased from the church to his last resting-place.
