John owned and operated Viestenz Electric from 1947 to 1965. He then worked for the Oconto Utility Commission until he retired in 1980 at age 62. John was a member of the First American Lutheran Church and Oconto Sportsman Club.
John is survived by two sons Richard (Debbie) Viestenz, Oconto; James (Renee) Viestenz, Oconto; two sisters-in-law, Eunice Viestenz, Oconto; Jeannette Viestent San Bernadino, CA; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor and Louis Viestenz, and four sisters, Esther Larson, Ruth Viestenz, Irene Viestenz and Germaine Younk.
The family received relatives and friends at the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto, from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, November 27, 1999. Funeral services were conducted Saturday 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Richard DeBenedetto officiating and burial at Evergreen Cemetery. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, assisted the family.
