James H. SCHWITTAY

Mr. James H. Schwittay, 79, Town of Grover, Marinette County died Wednesday afternoon January 5, 2006 at home.

Jim was born October 11 1920 in the Town of Grover, the son of the late John and Mary (Murrack) Schwittay. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the European Theater during World War 11, and was a prisoner of war in Germany. Jim was awarded a Purple Heart. Jim enjoyed farming and was also employed for many years by Northern Transportation Company and Gateway Transport.

Surviving are four sisters, Alice Rouer, Lena; Norma (Charles) Stuart, Green Bay; Laura Nietupski, Chicago; Helen (Joe) Veriha, Marinette; a sister-in-law, Delores Schwittay, Peshtigo; numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Arthur in 1986, and by two brothers-in-law, Gilbert Rouer and Edward Nietupski.

Friends called at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman from 1 until 2 PM Saturday, January 8, 2000. Funeral 2 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronald Hoffman officiated. Interment at First Baptist Cemetery, Pound. Military rites were held by the Coleman American Legion Post at the Funeral Home.
