Jean H. Hopkins PALMER

Jean H. Palmer, 93, died February 8, 2000 in Oconto, WI following a short battle with a brain melanoma.

She was born June 13, 1906, in Chicago, IL to the late Charles and Mary (Shields) Hopkins. A graduate of Morgan Park High School, Chicago, her career years before marriage were with the U.S. Marshall's Office during prohibition, the Rock Island Railroad, and Chicago Bell.

On December 31, 1935, she married Ellis F. Palmer of Mountain, WI. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1963. Their married life was spent in Wisconsin. Her career years following marriage were with Oconto County Department of Social Services and the Farmers Home Administration. Jean became a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Auburn Park Chapter, Chicago, IL on December 9, 1925. She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star. She was a charter member of Ajeb Temple 156, Daughters of the Nile, Green Bay, WI. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, WI.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Susan (Harold) Sorenson, Suamico, WI; sons Ronald (Darlene) Palmer, La Verne, CA: Allan Palmer, Oconto, WI; two grandchildren, Ronald (Krissen) Palmer Jr, La Verne, CA and Sara (Andrew) Loeffler, Claremont, CA, two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Loeffler and Alyssa Palmer and sisters-in-law Wanda Wiedermeier and Charlotte Hopldns. She is further survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Monty and Allan, four sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law and one niece.

Friends called at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Congress St., Oconto, WI. Eastern Star services were held. Funeral service was conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, February 12, at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, with the Rev. Don Clarke officiating.
