Oconto -- Mrs. John J. Noonan, 85, 527 Main St., Oconto died Wednesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Keith Beggs, Clintonville. She had been ill since June.

The former Jane Herald was born July 21, 1876 in Oconto to the late John and Catherine Herald and lived her entire life at the Main Street address. She married Mr. Noonan on June 16, 1901 in St. Joseph's Church. Mrs. Noonan was a charter member of the Catholic Women's Club and Oconto County Historical Society and a member of the Altar Rosary Society of St. Joseph's Church. Active in civic and music circles, she was the first woman to vote in Oconto.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Beggs and Mrs. George (Cathryne) Gerler, Oconto; two sons, Robert, Marinette and Jerome, Cincinnati, Ohio; 13 grandchildren. Her husband died in 1939, a daughter, Genevieve in 1924, and her sons, John in 1937; Phillip, 1952; Richard, 1953; and Kenneth, 1954.

Friends may call at MacQueen-Sheffield Funeral Home after 2pm Friday. The Catholic Women's Club will recite the Rosary at 7:45pm Friday and the parish Rosary will be held at 8:15pm Friday. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Saturday in St. Joseph's Church, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
