John Hernet Dies at Oconto Monday  
June 24, 1940

Pulaski, Wis. - John Hernet, 76, Sobieski, died at the Oconto hospital Monday morning after a lingering illness. Born in Poland in 1863, he came to America at the age of 26.

He settled first at South Bend, Ind., later coming to Hofa Park where he married Telphela Borlick, who died seven years later. He returned to South Bend where he married Cathering Olinski, and then came to Krakow where he maintained a blacksmith shop for five years, then moving to Sobieski where he was interested in another shop for 31 years. After the death of his second wife in 1931 he retired and had since lived with a son, Henry.

Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Thursday morning at St. John Cantius church at Sobieski with burial in the church cemetery. He was a member of the St. John Cantius society and the rosary will be recited there this evening and Wednesday evening.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Stachowski and Mrs. T. M. Matuszak, Milwaukee; and Mrs. Leo Gorecki, Cudahy; six sons, Frank, John and Anton, Milwaukee; Leo, Chicago; Stanley, New Jersey; and Henry, at home; one step-daughter, Mrs. Rose Rewolinski, Chicago; 20 grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.
