Mr. Campbell was born at Campbelliton, New Brunswick, June 24, 1852. He came to Oconto in 1871, and engaged in the work of cruiser in the lumber woods. He was an expert in that line, but retired about 25 years ago, soon after his marriage in Fon du Lac, to Miss Vena Spencer. He owned considerable real estate and was a director and Vice President of the Citizens National Bank of this city. Besides his widow he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Max Clark, of Ironwood Mich. and two sons, Collin and Lester, residing at home.
The funeral was held this afternoon at 10 o'clock from the residence, 916 Park Ave. Rev. Wright of the Presbyterian church officiating, and was largely attended.
Mr. Campbell was a man of strict honesty and integrity, whose word was as good as a bond, and in his death the community loses one if it's best citizens. The Enterprise extends it's sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.
Relatives from out of city who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Germond, James Campbell and son Earl of Clequet, Minn., Ed Spencer of Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. David Watson of Fon du Lac; M. Pelton of Madison; Henry Pelten of Oshkosh and Herman Dieck of Suring.
