Funeral services for Jack McEwing, 77, who died in his sleep early Friday morning of heart disease, were held at 2 pm Sunday afternoon, with burial in Woodlawn cemetery.

Mr. McEwing was a pioneer resident of the county and had lived here all his live. He was born in the town of Stiles of a family well known in the vicinity. They owned the McEwing hotel in Oconto. When as a young man he worked as sawyer, woodchopper and rider on the river drive in the early logging camps in the northern part of the county. He then cleared land in the county, living here for the past 35 years.

He is survived by one brother, Frank of Amberg and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Reilly of Green Bay and Mrs. James Gerhard of the town of Oconto Falls.

Pallbearers were Alex Patterson, John Flatley, William Henney, Simon Tracey, Louis Fonders and H. Rasmussen.
