James E. Jashinsky, Sr., 84, of 9575 Hwy 64, Pound died Thursday August 3, 2000 at the Clement J. Zablocki V.A. Center, Milwaukee.

He was born January 20, 1916 in Marinette County to the late Fred and Minnie (Kostreva) Jashinsky. Jim was a WWII veteran where he served in the Army at Omaha Beach and Normandy on D-Day. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Award. He was married to the former Wanda Hanson on June 18, 1941 at Iron River, MI. They lived in Chicago and then moved to the Pound area where he operated a farm and drove truck for Vernon Rosner. He also drove truck for Graetz Mfg. Co., Pound until his retirement. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and Coleman American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda Jashinsky; five children, James, Jr. (Carol) Jashinsky of Pound, Gene Jashinsky of Las Cruces, MM; Leonard (Alice) Jashinsky of Pound, Gary (Val) Jashinsky of Coleman, and Cheryl (Scott) Ermis of Pound; many grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; six sisters, Phyllis Gretzon of Coleman; Lorraine Frievalt and Lydia Adamski both of Peshtigo; Olga Pusick and Geraldine Makos both of Green Bay, and Cecelia (Roy) Beaber of Marinette. He was preceded by his parents; two brothers, Oscar and Walter and one sister, Della Rakowski.

Friends called at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman; a prayer service was held. Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Assembly of God Church, Crivitz. Rev. John Koch officiated with burial in the First Baptist Cemetery, Pound. The Coleman American Legion conducted military rites at the cemetery.
