Jerry Dufek, age 80, Algoma, died peacefully on Saturday, May 19, 2001, at home with his family by his side.

He was born on Oct. 26, 1920 in Kodan to the late Joseph M. and Libbie (Zlab) Dufek.

Jerry married Elaine Steiner on July 28, 1958, in Algoma. He farmed his entire life and also retired from Peterson Builders, Inc., after 25 years. Jerry was an avid polka dancer in his youth. He also was an accomplished craftsman. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine; his children and their spouses, Phyllis (Ken) Deprez, Mike (Angelia) Dufek, Deanna (Terry) Jorgenson, all of Algoma; grandchildren, Lucas and Eric Deprez, Jeremy, Jaime and Christopher Dufek, Danielle and Talia Jorgenson; two brothers, Kenneth Dufek, Joseph Dufek, both of Algoma; two brothers-in-law, Vernon Emmer, Antigo; Joe (Evelyn) Steiner, Algoma; two sisters-in-law, Carole (Joe) Boulanger, Green Bay; Rita Boedecker, Racine. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Garnetta Dufek, Anna Dufek, Libbie Emmer; and one brother, Phillip Dufek. Friends called at Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home, 1617 Flora Ave., Algoma, from 3-7:30 p.m. Monday, May 21. The funeral was held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
