Oconto - Joseph Barribeau, 81, 127 Jefferson St., died at 11:45 am Friday at the Oconto Hospital. He had been ill for two years. Mr. Barribeau was born May 29, 1879, in Oconto, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Barribeau, early Oconto settlers.

He spent most of his life in Oconto. His wife, the former Victoria Brisson, preceded him in death in 1955. They were married in 1901 in Rhinelander. He worked for the Oconto Lumber Co. and later for the Oconto Street Dept. He retired 10 years ago.

The body is at the MacQueen - Shefield Funeral Home and Friends may call there after 7pm tonight. The funeral will be held at 9 am Monday at St Peter Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery with the Rev. Abner S. Laque officiating. A parish Rosary will be held at 8 pm Sunday.

Surviving are one daughter, Pauline, Milwaukee: three sons, Lyle and Royal of Ocontoc, and Melvin of Kenosha. One son, Raymond, preceded him in death in 1947. Four brothers also survive, George and Oliver from Oconto, and Francis and Xavier of Milwaukee and five sisters, Mrs. Melina Peranteau and Mrs. Fred Pecor both of Oconto, Mrs Elizabeth McCoy, Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs CharlesWerth, Burbank, Calif., and Mrs. Vida McLeod, Manhattan Beach, Calif. 13 grandchildren and two great=grandchildren.
