She was born March 22, 1985 and was a sophomore at Oconto Falls High School. Jo was a member of the Spruce Aces 4-H Club, Oconto Falls FFA, the Wisconsin Junior Dairy Association, and State and National Junior Brown Swiss Association. She especially loved showing dairy cattle at the Wisconsin State Fair, World Dairy Expo, Brown Swiss Shows and the Oconto County Fair.
Jo is survived by parents, Ann Peter Steffel, Oconto Falls, and Joel Lori Marquardt, Coleman; brothers and sisters, Kayla and Kurt Steffel, Carissa, Samantha and Austin Marquardt; grandparents, Gary and Carol Caelwaerts, Oconto; Melvin and Marie Marquardt, Lena; great-grandparents, Helen Caelwaerts, Oconto, and Ernestine Graef, Lena; stepgrandparents, David, Sr. and June Nasgovitz, Coleman; and Janice Steffel, Oconto Falls; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jo was preceded in death by great-grandfathers, Arnold Caelwaerts and Phillip Graef, and stepgrandfather, William Steffel, Jr. Friends called at the Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Lena, Saturday, March 24, from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Carol Christianson officiating. Interment at Pine Hill Cemetery, Town of Spruce.
