Irene Wojciehowski(1923 - 2016)

Wojciehowski, Irene

Irene Wojciehowski passed away peacefully in her sleep at St. Ann Rest Home, Tuesday morning. She was born July 29, 1923 in Lena, Wisconsin, the fifteenth child of Joseph and Anna Pawlak Markiewicz and was married March 2, 1946 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Chester Wojciehowski Sr. Her parents, siblings, and husband preceded her in death. She is survived by three children, Kathleen Wojciehowski (Jefferson City, MO), Patricia Wojciehowski (Jefferson City, MO), and Chester Wojciehowski Jr. (Wauwatosa, Wisconsin). Chester is married to Nancy Wiegand Wojciehowski, and they have three children, Andrew Wojnoonski (Kathleen Noonan Wojnoonski) (Berkley, CA), Daniel Mesenhowski (Shannon Mesenbourg Mesenhowski) (Seattle, WA), and Lauren Gauerke (Kevin Gauerke) and their daughter Brooke (Appleton, WI). In addition, she is survived by numerous nephews and nieces all over the United States. She started married life in New York, where all three of her children were born. As a military wife, she raised the family in various locations, but the Green Bay area was always home for her. She was active in her children's school lives serving as president of the Home and School Association and a scout leader for many years. She, Chet Sr., and Chet Jr. moved to Green Bay in 1971. She was a member of Resurrection Parish where she often volunteered and shared the beautiful bouquets from her flower garden. At the Allouez Senior Center, she was an avid bridge player and loved her desserts. She will be missed by friends and relatives. The family wishes to especially thank St. Ann Rest Home staff and the Dominican Sisters for providing such an incredible caring environment that made her feel safe and protected as most of her skill set slipped away with dementia. Visitation FRIDAY, August 12, 2016 from 10:00am-11:00am at Resurrection Catholic Parish 333 Hilltop Drive Green Bay WI. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00am. Donations should be made to the Dominican Sisters of St. Ann Rest Home, Milwaukee, WI.
