Funeral services for Irene E. Christensen, 79, Oconto Falls, formerly of Suring, were held Tuesday, April 2 at Gruetz-macher Funeral Home in Suring. Pastor Kevin Kuhn officiated with burial in Hickory Cemetery.
She died at home on Thursday, March 28.
Born in Oconto Falls on Jan. 6, 1923 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ed (Emily Gonion) Kain, she married Milton Christensen on June 25, 1942. The couple lived and farmed near Hickory for many years. She was formerly a member of Hickory United Methodist Church where she was the director of Sunday School, Choir Director and also taught Sunday School. In recent years, she was a member at Maple Valley Community Church.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Oliver (Mary) Blooser of Pipestone, Mn.; four sons, Dan (Alice) of Suring, Dale (Robin) of Romney, WV, David (Vicky) of Eagle River, Ed (Lisa) of Oconto Falls; a brother, Byron (Leora) Kain of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Evelyn Bischoff of Oconto Falls, Dorothy Ingram of Eagle River; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Kain of Appleton, Elsie Kain of California; 22 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sally Ann; two brothers, Edwin and Lee; and three sisters, Violet Vanpay, Carol Morter and Larinne Trever.
