Mrs. Meade, formerly Miss Hannah J. Wood, was born at Woodville, N.Y., March 23, 1863, and came to Oconto Falls in 1903. She was married to W.C. Meade, who died in 1886. She was principal of the Fort Howard School for two years, taught nine years in Marquette and for six years in New York State. She has been most active in religious work since coming here, organizing three juvenile societies in the Methodist Episcopal church, they being the Standard Bearers, King's Heralds and Little Light Bearers. Mrs. Meade has also been superintendent of the Sunday school of her church, president of the Woman's club two years and one of its charter members and a charter member of the Library board since its organization in 1905. Mrs. Meade was president of the Woman's Foreign Missionary society for 28 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marion Nye, Fort Worth, Texas, and Mrs. E. A. Robichaud, Florence, Wis. And one sister Miss Julia O. Wood.
