Harold Rhode

Mr. Harold Rhode, 85, Oconto, passed away Sunday March 18 2001 at St. Vincent Hospital with his family by his side after a lengthy illness.

He was born on November 13, 1916 in Oconto to the late Frank and Florence (Fumelle) Rhode. On April 27, 1941 Harold married the former Eunice Belongia in Marinette. He served in the United States Army during World War 11 in the South Pacific for 31/2 years. After being discharged from service, he was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 27 years, retiring in 1976. Harold was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, and the American Legion. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed working in his garden.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Eunice; one son, Richard (Ursula), South Lake, TX; two daughters Nancy (Arnold) Mitzey, Onalaska; Judy (David) Goggin Los Alamos, NM; grandchildren Kendra Rhode, Leah Lowe, Rick Rhode, Ann Mitzey, Kirsten Rhode, Jay Goggin, Samantha Goggin; four great-grandchildren; one brother, John Rhode, Whiting, IA, one sister, Eleanor Pieterson, Oconto Falls; and a special friend, Tony Mercier of Oconto.

Friends may call at the Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, 121 Chicago St., Oconto from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21. Parish wake services 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Thursday at the Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until funeral cortege leaves for church. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Church, corner of Park and Madison, with Father David C. Ruby officiating. Burial in Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Harold will be sadly missed by his wife Eunice, all of his family and friends.
