Howard LeRoy Lunde, 72, of Oconto, died Friday July 14, 2000 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay.

Howard was born March 24, 1928 in Livingston, Montana to the late Halvor and Louise (Einerson) Lunde. He married Sandra Shallow on February 3, 1968 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oconto. Howard and his brother Norman owned and operated Norseman Ice Machines until 1969 when they sold to Liquid Carbonic. Howard then owned and operated Lunde Metal Fab., Inc. until the present time. Howard was a member of the Oconto Lions Club since 1966, American Legion, and Zion Lutheran Church. Howard served in the U.S. Navy.

Howard is survived by his wife Sandra, Oconto; one sister, Bernice Rock, Mercer Island, WA; one sister-in-law, Jane (George) Wos, Oconto; one brother-in-law, Harry (Cynthia) Shallow, Oconto; three nieces, Kathleen Ramee, Sigrid (David) Chambers, Sandra Hernshaw; five nephews, Gordon (Shirley) Rock, Michael (Tricia) Wos, Keegan Shallow, David Lunde and Logan Shallow. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Norman Lunde; one brother-in-law, Edward Rock; one nephew, Greg Rock.

Howard was gifted in many areas. He did creative metal art and recently became an avid painter of wildlife and nature scenes. He was a talented inventor, holding several patents, the most recent of which was for his smoker grill.

As a young man, Howard enjoyed racing stock cars in the Milwaukee area. He enjoyed boating and fishing, hunting, bowling with the Lions and playing cards with his wife and friends. Howard loved to tell stories and relished the opportunity to entertain his friends and family with his endless repertoire.

The family received relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, July 17. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev James Slow officiating.

Howard is now probably smiling down from above, enjoying his famous "Silver Bullet" as he is at peace with his Maker.
