She was born in Chicago August 5, 1905, to the late Olas and Carrie Larson. She married John Baumann in Chicago in 1930 and the family moved to Mountain in 1946. Helen was very dedicated to her family; she liked gardening, cooking and canning. She and John greatly enjoyed their trips to Florida. Her husband preceded her in death March 29, 1977. In later years Helen still traveled with her relatives and liked playing cards and Bingo with the girls from the Mountain Area. Helen was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Baumann of Juneau; two sons and their families, James (Elizabeth) Baumann of Mountain, Robert (Linda) Baumann of Butler; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and four brothers, Henry, Lawrence, Gilbert, and George.
Visitation was held at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Suring on Friday, January 21, 2000 from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. with Father William Stengel officiating. Burial in Mountain Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, Suring in charge of arrangements.
