The deceased was born January 12, 1895 in Spokane, Washington, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elmer George. He had lived in this area for many years and for several years operated a tavern at Stiles. He made his home of late with his daughter, Mrs. Chester Leigh of Lena.
Survivors are a son, Lawrence of Milwaukee, three daughters, Betty, Mrs. Chester Leight, Ruby, Mrs. Howard Larsen of Sturgeon Bay, and Jane, Mrs. Donald Baumgart of Oconto, a brother, Fred of Milwaukee, and four sisters, Mrs. Hazel Peterson, Oconto Falls, Mrs. Viroca Hanek Lena, Mrs. Veo Fischer of Glenview, Illinois, and Mrs. Beatrice Costello of Milwaukee.
Tracks on the Standard Oil Company docks in Green Bay led to an investigation by authorities and on Saturday morning, George's car was found at the bottom of the river. His body was found in the back seat, and it is reported that death was due to drowning. It is also thought to have been in the water for at least a week. Green Bay officials are still working on the case and are making all efforts to contact people who might have seen him or know with whom he was before the car plunged off the dock. As the car was equipped with an automatic drive, the police have ruled out the idea of suicide, as it would have been possible for someone to have left the car before it went over the edge of the dock.
