OLD RESIDENT PASSES AWAY
Hugh Herald gone after Long Suffering with Paralasis
Had Resided Here Last Twenty Three Years
Hugh Herald, an old and highly respected resident of the
east ward, died at the home of his son, J.B. Herald, in the town of Oconto
at 5:30 last Saturday in the afternoon after having been a sufferer from
a paralytic stroke since last May, but until recently not confined to his
bed. Deceased was born in Belleville, Ont., in 1846, and in 1870 was married
in Syracuse, NY to Miss Nora McAuliff, who preceded him to the other world
about three years ago.
In 1886 they moved from Belleville to Oconto, which remained
their residence until death. He is survived by four sons, John, James,
Michael and Frank, and four daughters, Maude, Julia, Agnes, and Mrs. William
Small, all of Oconto, except John, who resides at Duluth, Minn., and Mrs.
Small at Aitken. A sister, Mrs Thomas McAuliff, of Syracuse, NY., and two
brothers, John and James Herald of this city also survive to mourn his
death.
The funeral was held from St. Joseph's Church at 9
o'clock yesterday morning and his remains followed to their last resting
place in Catholic Cemetery by a large concourse of friends.
