He was born in Iron Mountain February 23, 1933 to the late Albert and Leona (Belongea) Mongrain. Howard served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. Following many years of employment as a machinist at Waukesha Bearing he retired to Crooked Lake, where he was very active selling modular homes and employed as a real estate broker with State Wide Real Estate of Mountain. Howard was GI lifetime member of the N.R.A., member of the Crooked Lake Fire Department, and a member of The American Legion Post in Crivitz.
Survivors include a very special friend Claria Alger of Crooked Lake. His sister Lorraine Kiyo of Oconomowoc. His niece Kandice Shobe of Fort Meyers Beach, FL, nephew Jim (Sally) Keyes and grand nephew Harrison Keyes all Waueesha. Nephew Rock (Heidi) Vanderhei of Nashotah. Grand nephew Charles Variderhei of Fort Meyers, FL. Howard was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth and a sister Marie.
Visitation will be held Thursday Jan. 6, at St. Marys of the Lakes Catholic Church Chapel Crooked Lake beginning at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 11 a.m. with Father Gerald Schmidt officiating. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home Suring is in charge of arrangements.
