Rites on Sunday for Hattie Leigh

Mrs. Arthur (Hattie) Leigh, 83, 242 Madison st., Oconto died early Friday at the Oconto Memorial hospital. She had been hospitalized since she sustained a fractured hip in a fall four months ago, and her health had been failing since.

She was born July 9, 1883, in Milwaukee and came to Oconto at the age of 12. She was married to Arthur Leigh June 8, 1904, at Couillardville, and the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1954. Mr. Leigh passed away in 1960.

She was a member of the Oconto Gospel Chapel and of the missionary society of the church.

The Rev. Robert Hollett officiated at final rites Sunday afternoon at the Oconto Gospel Chapel, and burial was in the Evergreen cemetery. The MacQueen funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were William Leigh, Ray Meyers, Mervyn Delano, Ronald Thompson, John Stock, Jr. and Richard VanHefty.

She is survived by two daughters, June, Mrs. Edward Delano, and Ruth, Mrs. Louis Meyers, both of R2 Oconto; two sons, Lawrence of Oconto and Elmer, Westchester, ILL; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Glynn, R2 Oconto, and Mrs. John Thiede, Abrams; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
