On December 27, 1934 Helen married Wallace Schaal. Together they farmed in the Town of Gillett until his death. Walter preceded her in death on September 23, 1983. She continued to be active in the family farm with her sons by being bookkeeper until her death. Hellen enjoyed working in her flower beds, and was a member of Hillside Assembly Church in Gillett.
Surviving are two sons, David and wife Sharon and Ben and wife Patti all of Gillett; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters; Adelaide Brock and Mary Lou (Lloyd) Lytie all of Green Bay, Phyllis Firgens of Suring; three sisters-in-law, Geri Brock of Peshtigo, Amy (Schaal) Priberg of Waupaca, Norma (Schaal) Benisch of Madison; many other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband.
Helen was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Brock; three brothers, and three sisters-in-law, Marlin Brock, Kenneth Brock, Raymond and Marjorie (Schaal) Brock, Carmen Hertz, Ellen (Schaal) Vollenweider. The family will receive friends at the Schaal Family Farm, Schaal Road, Gillett on Tuesday, March 7, 2000 from 4-9 p.m.
Visitation continues Wednesday at Hillside Assembly of God Church in Gillett at 10 a.m. until funeral service 11 a.m. with Pastor Paul Carlson officiating. Burial in the Volk Family Cemetery, Oconto Falls. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring assisting the family with arrangements.
