George Edward Ver Bunker, 77, of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away at his home on February 26, 2001.

George was born in Wabeno, Wisconsin, on February 15, 1924, the son of Edward and Elizabeth (La Fountain) Ver Bunker. On May 8, 1943, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he faithfully served as a Surgical Technician until his honorable discharge as a T-4 on April 1, 1946. He was most recently working as a Maitre'd in the restaurant business. George loved sports, ice skating, sailing, boating, swimming, and spending time outdoors. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

George is survived by his sisters: Elizabeth (Warren) Martin of Balsam Lake, WI; Nancy (Lloyd) Schreiber of Freedom, WI; Mary (James) Bruttig of Cudahy, WI; Helen (Dale) Nichols of Fence, WI; his brothers, James (Nina) Ver Bunker of Melb ourne, FL; William (Marian) Ver Bunker of Franklin, WI; a dear friend, Kevin Connell. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Gilbert and Robert. A Memorial Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, at St. Paul Catholic Church in St. Francis, Wisconsin. George will be buried in the spring at St. Am- Ambrose Catholic Cemetery in Wabeno, with date and time of services to be published when internment can be done. Suminski Funeral Home of Wabeno assisting the family with the arrangements. Services in West Palm Beach handled by Northwoods Funeral Home.
