Oconto Falls--Gustav Schindel, a long time resident of Oconto Falls, passed away on January 30, 1997 while at home. He was born on April 27, 1924 to Emil Schindel and Ernestine (Muth) Schindel. Mr. Schindel was raised on the family farm on Golden Corners Road west of Oconto Falls. After being wounded in World War II, he returned to Oconto Falls. Mr. Schindel got a job as lineman in South Dakota where he met Rosemary (Doheny) Thronson and got married. They returned to Oconto Falls and lived in the city. Mr. Schindel also worked for many years at the local paper mill and for himself digging basements and trenches with his back hoe.

Mr. Schindel was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Otto and one half brother William, and one child Melody Lee.

He is survived by Rosemary Schindel and their sons, Bart of Oconto Falls; Robert of Oconto Falls; and Jeffrey also of Oconto Falls.

Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Monday, February 3, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Bil Sutlief will officiate. Buriel will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oconto Falls.
