Gordon was born May 20, 1917 at Oconto to the late Raymond and Evelyn (Telford) Porter. He married Luella Sprise May 30, 1941 at the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto. Gordon worked for the Milwaukee Transportation Co. He purchased his Uncle Charlie's farm in 1956 and operated a dairy farm there. In 1962 he became a rural mail carrier for the Lena route which he did until his retirement.
Gordon was a member of the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto where he had served on the church council and as an usher. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and was a self-taught wood carver. Gordon served his country during WWII with 101st Airborne division during the invasion at Normandy.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Luella; a daughter, Donna Chudada, Pewaukee; a brother, Leonard Porter, Lena; two grandsons Christopher and Ryan.
Friends may call at the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Church with Rev. Richard DeBenedetto officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Lena Post of the American Legion.
