Gerald Lonzo Obituary

 

Gerald Joseph Lonzo Sr. "Jerry" "Joe", 78, Suring, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011. Jerry was born in Suring, on April 25, 1933, to the late Ulysses and Carrie (Creapeau) Lonzo. He married Sue Urban on Sept. 15, 1953. Jerry served his Country proudly in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955, serving in the Korean Conflict. He served in one of the first Airborne MASH Units, supporting injured American Soldiers, being honorably discharged. Jerry and his family lived in Milwaukee while attending Barber School on the GI Bill. Jerry and Susan returned to Suring and bought the local barber shop in Suring. He was appointed by the Governor to the Postmaster position in Suring. He was very involved in his local community, serving on the Village Board, Church Council of St. Michael's Catholic Church, and was active in the Suring American Legion. Jerry especially loved spending time with his family.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sue Lonzo, Suring; three daughters, Cindy (Jim) Baur, Marinette; Kathy (Mark) Leidig, Oneida; Carrie Lonzo, Suring; two sons, Chip (Toni) Lonzo, Green Bay; Ken Lonzo, New York; two sisters, Evelyn Alb, Lorraine Gandt; eight grandchildren, Jenny, Joe, Katie, Steve, Alexis, Demirse, Mikey, Matt; four great-grandchildren, Eva, Joey, Olivia, Mason.

Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Steve Lonzo; his brother, Donald Lonzo; his two sisters, Marion Raganyi, Elaine Lonzo.

Visitation will be held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, from 4 to 8 p,m. Visitation continues on Monday at the Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kevin Kuhn officiating.
