Gerald J. Holl, 84, Green Bay resident, died Monday morning April 25, 2005, at a local hospital. He was born March 28, 1921, in Green Bay to the late Peter and Mary (Boerschinger) Holl. Gerald married the former Evelyn Vanden Busch on September 2, 1944, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1945 until his discharge in 1946. Gerald was employed at Green Bay Drop Forge for over 45 years as a journeyman tool & die maker, retiring in 1985. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Gerald's most enjoyable times were spent with his family either at the cabin in Goodman or the cottage in Dyckesville. He was a longtime member of St. Philip's Parish.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn and their eight children: Virginia (Robert) Wendlendt, De Pere; Michael (Susan) Holl, Hobart; Mary (Dave) Patterson, Luxemburg; Teresa (Richard) Johnson, Bellevue; Peter Holl, Town of Scott; Susan (Bruce) Tilkens, Green Bay; David (Laurie) Holl, Green Bay; John (Cathy) Holl, New Franken; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters Reinolda "Nellie" Holl, Green Bay; Miriam (Don) Bukoski, Bellevue; a brother-in-law, Eddie Degeneffe, Howard; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a very special daughter Kathleen Holl; grandson, Jeffrey Holl; five sisters and one brother.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home & Crematory, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Parish wake service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St., from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. Larry Canavera officiating. Burial in the Allouez Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of others expressions of sympathy a memorial fund has been established in Gerald's name.

Gerald's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Richards, the nurses and staff on St. Vincent's 4th floor. Their care and concern for Gerald was very much appreciated.
