Gustav Herman Werth, 75, a resident of Townsend for the past 35 years, passed away Sunday morning at Veterans Hospital in Iron Mountain, Michigan.  Mr. Werth had been seriously ill for the past two years.  Born July 4, 1886 in Oconto, he was a woodworker, and served in the U.S. Army during World War 1.  He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church in Townsend and American Legion Post, Wabeno.

He is survived by two brothers Paul of Newald and Ernst of Park Falls.  His parents, three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:00 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Townsend with the Rev. Daniel Ahrens officiating.  Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Oconto.  Pallbearers were Laurence Fen, Allen Urbanek, All Schwartz, Lyle Madison, John Trenalis and Chester Erhardt.
