Grace Hyland ALLEN

Mrs. Ben (Grace) Allen, age 88, 788 Hwy. 41-141 (formerly of 5673 Allen Rd.) Little Suamico, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 11, 1999, following a short illness.

Grace was born March 21, 1911 at Brookside to the late Abe and Mary (Rowell) Hyland. She married Grant Allen on March 12, 1931, he preceded her in death on December 3, 1954. She married Ben Allen Jr. (Grant's brother) on August 10, 1957. The couple lived on the family farm in Little Suamico. Ben passed away October 5, 1994. Grace resided with her son William for several years. She was a good mother who was loved by her children as much as she loved them. She shared many St. Patrick's Day parties with all her family around her. She was a waitress for many years at the Zuider Zee and H. C. Prange Terrace Room.

Survivors include her son, William (Bill) Allen of Little Suamico; two daughters Ayris Balza and Eileen (Steve) Maus, both of Howard: two brothers, Donald Hyland and Elmer (LaVerne) Hyland; five sisters, Alice Smith, Peggy Peterson, Mary Massicotte, Violet Putnam and Doris (Carl) Kriegel; six grandchildren, Barbara Murfield, Steve, Bruce (Debbie) and Mark Balza Timothy (Cary) Maus, Todd (Jill) Maus ten great-grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Brad, Jason, Jonathan, Annette, Amanda, Allyce, Danielle and Mikayla. Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; two great-grandchildren, Mark Balza 11 and Melissa Balza; sisters, Irene Brendemihl, Rose Geil and Laura Zoeller; two brothers, Jack and Robert Hyland, and son-in-law, Vernon Balza. Visitation was held at the Gal- lagher Funeral Home from 4:00-7.00 p.m. Friday, May 14. Funeral services were held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Richard DeBenedetto officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Little Suamico.
