Christensen, Gertrude A.

Gertrude A. Christensen, 91, Green Bay passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013. She was born on January 3, 1922 to the late Ernest and Dora (Knaack) Buchholz in the Township of Underhill, Wisconsin. On July 3, 1948, she married Kenneth Christensen in Gillett, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on May 31, 2000.

In her younger years, Gertrude was employed in the kitchen at St. Mary's Hospital. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where she had a passion for children and taught Sunday School, and was a member of Bible Study and the Women's Circle.

Gertrude is survived by one son, James Christensen and his finance, Patti Elliott of Little Suamico; one daughter, Marilyn (Jerry)) Trimberger of Burlington; three grandchildren, Andrew Trimberger, Megan (Greg) Herzog and Michael (Kristen) Elliott; three great-grandchildren, Pearl Herzog and Emily and Lindsey Elliott; three brothers, Ernest (Ruby) Buchholz, Leroy (Naomi) Buchholz and Alan (Mary) Buchholz; one sister, Shirley (Lee) Zaddack and a sister-in-law, Beatrice Buchholz.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and a nephew.

Visitation will take place at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1350 Bond Street, after 10:00 am Friday, January 3, 2014 where the funeral service will take place at 11 am with the Rev. Amy Engebose officiating. Entombment will be at Fort Howard Mausoleum.
