Frank J. Horak, postmaster at Oconto for about 17 years until he retired in 1951, died at 6:30 this morning at Salinas, California. Mr. Horak, who was 65, moved to California after retiring from the post office here.

Funeral services will be held in California, but details were not received by friends here.

Besides serving as postmaster, Mr. Horak was secretary-treasurer of the National Assn. Of Postmasters for eight years., until 1951, when he declined renomination for the office. In that capacity he kept in touch with postmasters throughout the United States, the Hawaiian Islands, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Guam and Samoa. Mr. Horak came to Oconto in 1921. He managed the Western Union office here until 1943, when he became postmaster. He was a member of the Oconto Kiwanis Club for more than 25 years, and served a term as district governor in 1950. For many years Mr. Horak was the Press-Gazette’s correspondent in Oconto. He was active in numerous community and civic affairs.

Survivors include his wife, Martha; a son, John, who is believed to be in Detroit; a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Virginia) Gustafson, In Salinas.
