Oconto - Frank J. Bardon, 63, Oakland, California, former Oconto
resident, died Saturday in the Veterans Hospital at Oakland after a six
month illness. Mr. Bardon, who was born Aug. 20, 1892, in Oconto,
attended Oconto schools and then started in vaudeville in Milwaukee in
1913 where he became famous for a whistling act. In 1939 he became an
employee of the Oakland Post Office where he worked until his retirement
due to illness. Mr. Bardon was a member of the Holy Name Society,
American Legion of Oconto, and was a Veteran of WW1 serving in the
entertainment field.
Survivors include one brother, Howard, Duluth, Minn.; two sisters , Mrs.
Mae Quin, Tacoma, Wash.; and Mrs. Tom McGovern, Oconto.
Friends may call at MacQueen – Sheffeild Funeral Home, Oconto, where the
rosary will be recited at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be at
9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church, Oconto, with the Rev. Robert
Kline officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery with
military rites at the graveside.
