Francis "Boots" Schlader, 87, Oconto passed away peacefully at his home on January 28, 2001.

He was born May 1, 1913 at Oconto to the late William and Elizabeth (Longsine) Schlader. Francis married Cecelia Bloom in 1931. She preceded him in death June 17, 1972. He worked at Great Lake Shoe Co. and also owned and operated Bootsy's Bar from 1953 until retiring in 1976. Boots was a gifted piano player playing strictly by ear.

Survivors include a daughter, Darlene (Dale) Uphill, Oconto; a sister, Viola Baldner, Green Bay; five grandchildren, Lori (Calvin) Knaide, Steven Uphill, Robert (Tonie) Uphill, Don (Rhonda) Uphill, Carol (Tim) Newbury; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchiIdren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and twin brothers William Jr and Wilbur.

Friends may call at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Wake service will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Deacon Walter Kaszynski officiating. Burial will be at Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
