A native of Wisconsin, she was born May 27, 1903, to D. L. And Margaret (Barribeau) Whiting, and had lived in Sparks since 1930, coming from Wisconsin. Mrs. Casey was a homemaker. She was a past member of Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, having worked at Care & Share Nutrition Program in Sun Valley as a VIP designee, Gold & Silver Club, Royal Neighbors of America and a member of Reno Healthcare's Resident Council and First Church of God. Her husband, Earl, died Oct. 28, 1961 and brothers, Ray, Dewey, Everett, Lloyd and Earl Whiting, preceded her in death.
Surviving are son, Clifford of Sparks; daughters, Gertrude Scott and Elsie Casey, both of Reno and Betty Block of Sun Valley; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ross, Burke & Knobel Mortuary, Reno. A funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at the mortuary, with burial at Mountain View Cemetery.
