Emil "Smokie" Urbanek, 78, Spruce died Tuesday, November 7, 2000. He was born on July 10, 1922 in Spruce to the late Joseph and Mary Urbanek. On June 23, 1951 Emil married the former Phyllis Gering. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2000. Smokie worked at Foral Motors, Unit Structures in Peshtigo, and then at Lon's Implement in Lena. He was a member of the Pulaski VFW

Survivors include one son, Lon Urbanek, Lena; one daughter, JoAnn (Bob) Trepanier, Green Bay; two granddaughters, Misti and Stacey both of Green Bay; one brother, Ed Urbanek, Spruce; one sister, Frances (Norbert) Pashauwer, Lena; and one stepsister, Mary Chernney, Alcorn. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cleo; three sisters, Christine Greeten, Josephine Kieth, and Alvina McDonald; two brothers, Fred Urbanek and Joe Hrabik.

Friends called at the RhodesCharapata Funeral Home, Lena from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of the funeral. Funeral service was 12 noon Saturday at the Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Landwehr officiating. Interment at the Pine Hill Cemetery, Spruce.
