Mrs. Earl (Eleanor) Carriveau, 83, 7936 Elm Lane Road, Oconto, died Tuesday morning, March 23, 1999 at home.
The former Eleanor Smith was born February 25, 1916 at Marinette, the daughter of the late Charles and Mathilda (Zinther) Smith. She married Earl Carriveau September 28, 1940 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Oconto. The couple farmed in the Town of Little River all of their married life. Mrs. Carriveau was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto.
Surviving are her husband Earl; five sons, Clark (Linda), Donald (Margaret), and Gary (Kay), all of Suamico; Lee, Madison, Neil (Gail), Freedom; three daughters, Nancy (Jack) Finger, County Line, Mary Ann (Cliff, Jr.) Klimek and Barbara (Roger) Polzin, Harmony; a brother Lee Smith, Peshtigo; 19 grandchildren.
Eleanor was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Edwin, and by five sisters, Grace Carriveau, Avis Dohl, Dorothy Fetterly, Lois Petka, and Carol Thurow.
The family received relatives and friends at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, 121 Chicago Street, Oconto from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 25. Parish prayer 7 p.m. Mass of Resurrection was at 11 a.m. Friday, March 26, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, St. Joseph Site. The Rev. David Ruby officiated. Interment at Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
