Emma Stephan BOEHMKE

Mrs. Kenneth (Emma) Boehmke, 81, 5889 Hwy. 22 West, Lena, died unexpectedly early Wednesday morning October 27, 1999 at Community Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls.

The former Emma Stephan was a New Year's Baby, and was born January 1, 1918. She was one of 11 children born to the late Richard and Ida (Scheddack) Stephan. On February 2, 1946, Emma was united in marriage to Kenneth Boehmke of Faith Presbyterian Church, Crivitz. The couple farmed in the Town of Pound, and later lived in the Town of Oconto, until retiring to their Town of Stiles residence. Emma lived life to the fullest. She loved burning brush at "the shack", as well as spending time with her family and card players. She was an avid quilter, crocheter, and knitter. Since January, Emma had made eight quilts. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Oconto and the Coleman American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a volunteer for the Oconto Falls Senior Citizens.

Emma will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 53 years, Kenneth; by their children, Karen (Allan) Henseler, Hilbert; Ida (William) Conrad, Coleman; Janet (Robert) Blakeney, Halifax, Nova Scotia; Stephen (Virginia "Ginny") Boehmke, Shawano; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is further survived by sisters and brothers including, Helen Walz, Adeline Rund, and Gertrude Galbreath all of California; Grace Richards, Menomonee Falls; Donna (Jerry) Ziegler, Pewaukee, Ellen (Loyal) Swenson, Gladstone, MI, Ernest and Robert Stephan, Wausaukee.

Further preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jill Blakeney, and by two brothers, Richard and Melvin.

The body laid in rest at First Presbyterian Church, Oconto where the family greeted relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 1999. Service of Christian Burial was 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. The Rev. Donald R. Clarke officiated ' Interment at Nicolet Memorial Gardens, Bay Settlement. Rhodes- Charapata Funeral Home, Oconto was in charge of arrangements.
