Emmett O. Graetz, 82, of 8055 Hwy 64, Pound, died unexpectedly Friday, December 8, 2000 at St. Mary Hospital, Green Bay.

The son of the late Clarence and Minnie (Patz) Graetz was born July 18, 1918 in Marinette County. He attended the White Potato Lake School and was a veteran of WWII. Emmett was married to the former Violet Gearl on June 26, 1944 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hayes. He was in partnership with his father and brother, Clarence and Edward, with the company known as Graetz & Sons. In 1959 the company became known as Graetz Mfg. Co. and Emmitt was Vice-President until his retirement in 1982. He was a lifetime member of the Assembly of God Church and a member of the VFW and American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Violet; one son, Alton (Pat) of Pound; two daughters, Diane (Douglas) Hinther of Pound and Joy Graetz of Pound; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Loren (Florence) and Harold (Edith) of Pound and Lloyd (Geraldine) of Waterloo, IA; and two sisters, Angeline (Ed) Johnston of Marinette and Lorraine Timm of Pound. He was preceded in death by one son, Arnold, and one brother and two sisters.

Friends called Sunday at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman where a prayer service was held. Funeral service was conducted 11 a.m. Monday at the Assembly of God Church, Pound. Rev. David Smith officiated with interment in the First Baptist Cemetery, Pound. The VFW and American Legion conducted military rites.
