ABRAMS - Ellen H. Spaulding, 85, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 5, 1999 after a short illness. Ellen was born Aug. 21, 1913 in Suring, to the late Peter and Martha (Arveson) Mikkelson. She married Clyde Spaulding on June 27, 1939, in the Town of Maple Valley. She and her husband of 59 years farmed in the Town of Pensaukee since December of 1945. They owned and operated Northern Pole Buildings in partnership with their son Jay. Ellen taught elementary school in Suring and Beaver Lake. She was a member of the Oconto Gospel Chapel.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Clyde, Abrams; two daughters, Barb and George Berg, Abrams; Leigh Ann and Dan Martin, Maple Plain, Minn.; one son, Jay and Becky, Stiles; one brother, Dale (Teddy) Mikkelson, Gillett; one sister, Carol Arveson, Suring; one brother-in-law, Wayne and Delores Spaulding, Stiles; eight grandchildren; four great-grand- children; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grand-children.
Ellen is preceded in death by one brother, Ervin; and infant daughter, Judy; and one foster son, Verle.
The funeral was held Monday, Feb. 8, at her church with the Rev. Bob Schut officiating.
The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, assisted the family.
