He was born February 8, 1936 in Lena to Paul and Saba (Ausloos) Rosera. He graduated from Lena High School where he was active in sports. Ervin received a football scholarship from the University of Montana (Missoula), where he graduated with a degree in education and mathematics. There he had two nick-names: "Tank' and "Rosie." These names referred to his ability to charge through the line as a fullback and to his sweet and charming disposition. After graduating in 1958, he farmed the family homestead until retirement in April of 1998.
In his many years as a farmer, he always took an interest in the social and political aspects of agriculture, and in economics and politics in general. He was a strong and sensitive pro life advocate, who made frequent calls to legislators. His letters to the editor were published on various issues in the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
Survivors are his mother, Saba; five sisters, and four brothers-in- law, Mary and Robert Joyce, St. Cloud, MN; Rita and John Scheffen, Lena; Eloise Shallow Svejda, Lena; Elaine and David Demro, Green Bay; and Bernadette and Rafael Rodriguez, Johnson City, TN.; one sister-in-law, Shirley Washebek, Pound; and many nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.
Ervin was preceded in death by his father, Paul E. Rosera; three brothers, Rev. Milton Paul Rosera, Maryknoll Missionary, Donald D. Rosera, Alfred C. Rosera; one infant sister, Frances Marie Rosera; and two brothers-in-law, Vernon Shallow and Jerry Svejda.
Friends called at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Lena. A Knights of Columbus Service and a Parish Vigil Service were held. Funeral services were held 11 am. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic, Church, Lena, with Father Frank Schrage officiating. Interment at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Lena.
