"Miss Emma Calligan, 66, lifetime resident of Oconto, died at her home on Congress at about ten o'clock last Thursday night, following a heart attack after an illness of only two days. She had suffered a stroke on Tuesday.
"Funeral services were held at the Gallagher Funeral home at two-thirty Monday afternoon with Rev. Thomas Smart officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery.
"The deceased was born in Oconto, May 11, 1876 and lived here all her life. Until about two years ago, she and her sister, Maude, conducted an ice cream parlor in the city. In the days before the advent of the linotype here early in the century, she worked as a typesetter at the Reporter office.
"Miss Calligan was active in affairs of the Presbyterian church here and was a member of the Ladies Auxillary and the Missionary society.
"She is survived by her sister, with whom she lived, and one brother, George of Rockford, Ill."
