Eleanor was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Oconto, Wis., daughter of the late John and Anna (Dahgren) Hanthorn. As a young child, her family moved to Crystal Falls and she remained there for most of her adult life. She graduated from Crystal Falls High School in 1937.
She married Edward Sandri in 1945 and together they operated the Hanthorn Fuel Co. After its closure, Eleanor went to work for the Crystal Falls High School as a secretary for the principal and retired from that position in 1982.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ed; a sister, Mabel Hastings, and two brothers, Gordon and Clarence.
She leaves a son, Darryl (Kay) Sandri of Piqua, Ohio; a daughter, Sue Hambel of Florence, Wis.; four grandchildren, Heather (Nathan) Nuss of Virginia Beach, Va., Carrie (Jeff) Johnson of Cleveland, Ohio, Joy (Scott) Mumper of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Michael (Ellen) Hambel of Winona, Minn.; and a great-grandchild, Hudson Nuss of Virginia Beach, Va.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home of Crystal Falls.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wisconsin Council of the Blind.
