NIAGARA, Wis.- Edward G. Gordon Sr., 97, of 956 Main St., Niagara, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, in Maryhill Manor Nursing Home in Niagara. He was born Feb. 10, 1904, in Oconto, Wis., son of the late William and Martha (Noack) Gordon.

Ed owned and operated the Niagara Service Garage on Main Street for 35 years, from 1935 until its closing in 1965, when he became ill.

He took pride in his Pine Plantation and had a great love for the outdoors. He leaves his wife, Ella; two sons, Edward Jr. (Linda) Gordon of Niagara and Dale (Kathy) Gordon of Marshfield, Wis.; four daughters, Lorraine Axenrod of De Pere, Wis., Suzanne Lundin of Green Bay, Wis., Virginia Hallgren of Homestead, Wis., and Sally (Reginald) Phillips of Niagara; three brothers, Grant (Babe) Gordon of Marinette, Wis., Ben Gordon of Berrien Springs, lower Michigan, and Jerome (Vi) Gordon of Oconto, Wis.; two sisters, Ruby Hurion of Peshtigo, Wis., and Pearl Radtke of Marinette, Wis.; 15 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by an infant son, James Gordon; three brothers, William, David and James Gordon, and four sisters, Robena Demsky, Mae Womack, Martha Holmgrem and Jessie Waterbrook. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Riverside United Methodist Church in Niagara.

Funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Pastor Karl Utzat will officiate.

Burial will follow in Niagara Cemetery.

The family is being served by the Jacobs Funeral Home of Niagara.
