Funeral Saturday for Mrs. Matheys

Funeral services for Mrs. John Matheys Sr., 76 a resident of Stiles, who died at Green Bay hospital Wednesday evening where she had been a patient for two weeks, were held at St. Patrick's Catholic church at Stiles, Saturday Morning.

Rev. John Monarsky offered the requiem high mass at 9:30. Burial took place in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank and Charles Ward, Richard Scott, Frank McCallister, James Carey and Fred Shefdore, Members of the St. Patrick's Alter Society, of which the deceased was a member, attended the rites in a body.

The former Ella Cornet was born on March 6, 1878 at Duval, Kewaunee county and was married to Mr. Matheys in April at Duval. The couple lived in Wausaukee until 1920 when they moved to the town of Stiles where they have lived since.

Mrs. Matheys is survived by her husband; three sons; Joseph of Two Rivers, Eugene of Denmark and John Jr. of Stiles; seven daughters; Mrs. Orville Van Boven of Stiles, Mrs Irene Peterson of Sheboygan, Mrs. James Nejedlo of Pilsen and Mrs Richard Nejedlo of Stanglesville, Mrs William Schnese Jr of Oconto Falls, Mrs Elmer Gauthier of Two Rivers and Mrs. Jack Phillips of Stiles. A Son, Amos preceded her in death in 1951. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Steffen funeral home at Lena.
