June 22, 1896

Edward Catrell died at his home Monday afternoon at 5 o'clock after an illness of three months brought on by an attack of the grippe nearly a year ago. He was confined to his premicise a short whole and his death was unexpected except to members of the family. Saturday he began to sink and realized that death was approaching. His faculties remained unimpaired to the last and he recognized the members of his family and friends at his bedside to the last. He suffered little and death was a peaceful transition to the great beyond.

The deceased was born in the county of Cork, Ireland, in 1845, and while a boy of 8 or 9 removed to Canada, and then to Peshtigo where he was and employee for the Peshtigo Co. for years. In 1887 he purchased the hotel known as the Gregy House, and since that time had been its genial proprietor. The name was changed to the Corbett House. He was well known to the traveling public and to the citizens of Peshtigo for his free-hearted hospitality and cordial manners.

He was married to Miss Kathryn Powers in Chicago, 29 years ago, and is survived by his widow and five children, Mary, Williamm Julia, Daniel and Dennis. The funeral will take place from St Mary's Catholic church, Thursday morning at 9 o'clock. The Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, Branch 5, Marinette, of which the deceased was a member, will have charge of the funeral. Members of the Catholic Order of Foresters of Marinette and the local order will be present at the funeral.
