Pioneer of Pound, E. A. Meyers, Dies Coleman, Wis.

Edward A. Meyers, 79, Pioneer Resident of Pound, died at 1:30 this morning at his home after a long illness. He was born in Pine Grove, Brown County, April 7, 1868, and came to the town of Pound in 1887. On Oct. 8, 1898, he was married to Minnie Kobus. After being employed 15 years as a shingle packer he purchased a farm. He also was a census taker, and served as assessor and clerk of the township several years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by six sons, William and Sylvester of Lena, Henry and Math of Pound, Joseph of Milwaukee and Louis, Marinette; three daughters, Mrs. Elmer Koepsel of Elkhart Lake, Wis., Mrs. John Ellie of Coleman, and Mrs. Orin Voight, Milwaukee; Brothers, John of Green Bay, and Mike of Tipler, Wis.; 22 grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Walter Shanazinski, died in December 1946.

The body, which may be viewed Thursday evening, will be at the Rhodes mortuary here until Friday noon, when it will be taken to the residence. Rites will be held at the residence at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon and in the Pioneer Baptist Church, Pound, at 2 o'clock. The Rev. John Grygo will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.
