Elmer A. Kallies, 83, died early Wednesday morning, September 5, 1999 at
the Gillett nursing home, with members of his family present. He had
suffered with cancer for a short period of time. Elmer was born Jan. 29,
1916, in the town of Gillett, to the late Herman and Linda (Pfeffer)
Kallies. On Sept. 25, 1937, Ellmer married Edna Vorpahl in Pulcifer. He
had been employed by the former Linwood, Inc. He was a member of the
Christ Lutheran Church, Hintz, where he served as Sunday School
Superintendent for 13 years. Elmer thoroughly enjoyed Polka music and
playing his concertina. For many years he volunteered at the Gillett
Nursing Home, providing Musical entertainment.

Elmer is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edna, residing at the Gillett
Nursing Home; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Carol and Joe Still,
Appleton; Marilyn and Neil Koepke, Tigerton; Patricia and Ken Updegraff,
Sagimaw, MI.; Clarice Bahr and her special friend, Ron White, Pulaski;
three sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis and his special friend Nancy,
Keshena; Elmer Jr. and Linda, Shawano; Dale and Nora, Pulcifer; Karen
(Kallies) Cadena, Oconto Falls; one brother and sister-in-law, William
and Dorothy, Two Rivers; 28 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.

Elmer was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth; two brothers, Lawrence
and Joe; one sister, Rosella Gleiser; one daughter-in-law Ellen Kallies.
The funeral was held Sat. Sept. 18 at his church with the Rev. M.
Andersen officiating. Internment in the church cemetery. A memorial fund
has been established for the church. 

Pallbearers were, Evan, Kevin, Wydell, and Timmy Kallies, Brian Still
and Matthew Updegraff.
