Erna Ammerman GRENKE

Erna Grenke, 87, Oconto Falls, died Sunday evening, October 16, 1999. She was born on July 9, 1912, in Kewaunee, WI, to the late William and Hilda (Struck) Ammerman. She was raised on the family farm and attended school in West Klondike.

She married her beloved husband, Fred Grenke on June 1, 1935. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1997. They farmed in the town of Oconto Falls until retiring in 1974.

Erna was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was the leader of the women's groups at Grace and also the synod. She enjoyed visiting with neighbors, gardening, fishing, and berry picking. Erna maintained close friendships with cousins throughout the years. Most of all she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Art and Pat (Moen) Grenke; Arlin and Georgia (Konitzer) Gernke all of Oconto Falls; Herb and Sandy (Neuman) Grenke, Marquette, MI; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Ammerman and Beatrice Hutchinson: one sister-in-law, Lillian Grenke, Oconto Falls.

She was preceded in death by brothers, William, Rueben and Roland Ammerman; sister, Meta; and brother-in-law, Julius Grenke. Friends may call at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and at Grace Lutheran Church after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services. Funeral 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Rev. Bill Sutlief and Rev. Shaun McFarland officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
